On-the-Spot Essay Writing Contest

A. Mechanics:
1.
The Essay must be original and must expound the theme of the 16th
UNO-Recoletos Solidarity Day: “Pamatan-ong Rekoleto: Magtubo kay Kristo, Ibantala ang
Pagtu-o.”
2. The Academic Committee will
provide all materials for the contestants.
3. All Essays should be written in
English and shall consist of not less than 500 words nor more than 600 words.
4. The entry shall not, in whole or
in part, offend any religion, sect or creed, nor violate neither the standards
of decency nor the laws on libel and oral defamation.
5. The participants will be endorsed by
their respective REED advisers. A maximum of two participants will be allowed
per REED teacher. Pre-Registration Forms can be secured from their respective
REED teachers and to be submitted to Mr. Dennis Madrigal at the REED Office on
or before February 26. Only those who have pre-registered and submitted the
complete requirements within the specified date will be eligible to join the contest.
6.
Participants
are to report to the University Auditorium by 8:00 AM for the formal
registration and determination of their official contest numbers and
competition briefing. Any late arrivals will be disqualified. The contest will
immediately follow around 9:00 AM at SA 101.
7. All essays will automatically
become official property of the UNO-Recoletos Solidarity Day Academic Committee.
8. No distinguishing mark or name
of the contestant shall appear in the entry.

Language/Style -

Organization - 15%
Mechanics (Grammar) - 20%
