Solidarity Day Quiz Bowl 2013

1. The contest is open
to all bona fide Religious Education (REED) students only and must be officially
endorsed by their respective REED Advisers.
2. A maximum of three
(3) participants per REED Adviser can join the contest. Pre-Registration Forms
can be secured from their respective REED teachers and to be submitted to Mr.
Dennis Madrigal at the REED Office on or before February 26. Only those who have pre-registered
and submitted the complete requirements within the specified date will be eligible
to join the contest.
3. Participants are to
report to the University Auditorium by 8:00 AM for the formal registration and
determination of their official contest numbers and competition briefing. Any
late arrivals will be disqualified. The contest will immediately follow around
9:00 AM.
4. All questions will
only cover matters pertinent to the Year of Faith, Articles of the Creed, Augustinian
Recollect and Solidarity Day History in general.
5. Questions will be
prepared by the Solidarity Day Academic Committee.
6. The contest is
divided into two main parts: the Qualifying Round and the Final Round.
7. There will be twenty
(20) questions for the Qualifying Round and thirty (30) for the Final Round
which will be distributed into three categories: Easy Questions (15), Moderate
Questions (10) and Difficult Questions (5).
8. Questions shall be
Multiple Choice for the qualifying round, easy and moderate questions. No
choices shall be provided for the difficult questions.
9. Since the questions
will be flashed on screen, the questions shall be read only once after which no
repetition of the same will be done.
10. The contestant
shall not write the answers until the signal is given. Timer will start as the
quizmaster gives the signal “GO.” A bell shall be rung to signal that the time I
up and the contestant should stop writing.
11. Contestants will be
given 10 seconds to answer each question in the qualifying round, easy and
moderate questions, and 20 seconds in the difficult questions.
12. No points shall be awarded
for incomplete and wrongly spelled answers.
13. The points to be
awarded for each correct answer will be as follows:

14. At the end of each qualifying
round, the total score of each contestant will be computed. Only those contestants
who belonged to the Top Ten highest scores will qualify and proceed to the
Final Round.
15. The contestant with the highest score at the
end of the difficult round shall be declared the Champion; while the second and
third highest scoring contestants as the first and second runners-up respectively.
16. In case of a tie, a
clincher question/s will be given. The first contestant to gain a point advantage
shall be declared winner.
17. Protest arising
from the contest must be addressed to the panel of judges which will be
composed of the Vice President for Religious Affairs and all REED Teachers. The
validity of the answer shall be decided upon by the judges. The decision of the
judges is final and irrevocable.
18. The audience must
observe silence while the contest is going on. COACHING IS STRICTLY NOT ALLOWED
FROM THE AUDIENCE.
19. All contestants must abide by the contest rules.
20. One point will be deducted from
the total score of the contestant for every violation of any above-stated rules and/or non-compliance of the same.
21. Winners will receive the
following prizes:
First Place
- Php 500.00 +
Certificate of Recognition
Second
Place - Php
300.00 + Certificate of Recognition
Third Place
- Php 200.00 +
Certificate of Recognition
Fourth –
Tenth Places will receive Certificates of Participation.
